More than 11.000 pupils are already aware of rules of safe behavior
The Mine Risk Education specialists of the “Center for
Humanitarian Demining and Expertise” SNCO have organized
trainings for the pupils from Tavush, Aragatsotn, Lori, Ararat,
Syunik, Gegharkunik, Kotayk regions and Yerevan. About 11024
pupils and teachers have been participating in the trainings.
They are already aware of rules of safe behavior. The mine risk
education specialist updated the mine victims’ database.
Information of about 70 person was collected in 2019.
No Mines in the Forest Near the Highway of Davit Bek Residence
The signs and tapes reminding of mine danger in the forest
straight to the neighboring part of the Davit Bek residence in the
Kapan Community of the Syunik Region are being removed. The
are no mines in the mentioned area. By the cooperation of the
Center for Humanitarian Demining and Expertise and the
Foundation for Demining and Demolition the deminers of the
center cleared 16180 sq.m. area this year. In the total sum of last
year’s activities 25.000 sq.m area was handed over to the
municipal authorities. 7 unit unexploded ordnance was detected during the demining activities,
including anti-personnel mines, 125 mm. projectile and a F1 hand grenade. Demining activities are
also conducted in Kornidzor residence of Tegh community this year.
The works of the 4th shift of the Humanitarian Mission in February of
Republic of Armenia
In February 2020 Mr. Arkadi Tonoyan, General Consulate
representative of the humanitarian mission of the Republic of
Armenia in Aleppo had number of meetings with representatives
of international organizations. In particular, the meeting with
the UN Resident Coordinator in Syria Mr. Imran Riza and the
Head of the UN Programs Coordination Office in Syria, Mrs.
Heli Usikyan was held at the General Consulate of the Republic
of Armenia in Aleppo. The meeting was attended by the RA
General Consul Mr. Armen Sargsyan.
The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss the legal and technical capacities of the present
and future cooperation between deminers involved in the humanitarian team and the United
Nations Mine Action in Syria. Meetings were also held with the staff of the United Nations
Development Programme Office in Syria, as well as with the head of staff of the UN Office for
Security issues in Syria.
Starting from 7 February, 2020 the RA humanitarian mission deminers’ 4th shift has cleared the
area of 3853 m ², during the clearance works 6 anti-personnel mines were found.
The 4th shift medical team has provided medical assistance to 608 habitants, in particular 119
therapies, 45 surgeries, 118 ophthalmological, 273 pediatric-virological, 15 dental, 38 neurological
cases. Since February 2019 up to now the Humanitarian Mission of the Republic of Armenia has
provided medical assistance to 10722 patients.
At the same time, a large number of medicines and medical supplies were transferred to Aleppo's
medical facilities, as well as the Armenian Center for Humanitarian Demining and Expertise
provided humanitarian aid to one of the orphanage that belongs to the Armenian community and
local Syrian children.
