Demining Activities in Davit Bek and Kornidzor 2019-08-09 Center for Humanitarian Demining and Expertise carries out demining activites in Davit Bek of Kapan community and Kornidzor of Tegh community in Syunik region. The demining activities in Davit Bek are implemented in cooperation with the “Foundation for Demining and Demolition”. Demining is planned for a terretory of About 16 thousand square meter. As for now one F1 granade, one OZM72 mine, one projectile of 73mm caliber are discovered. Clearance of military zone is implemented in Kornidzor. According to CHDE SNCO plan-task, “Halo Trust” organization is going to clear a terretory of 30.000 square meter from mines. Kit and equipment provided to Armenia from USA department are used.
Meeting with UN Mine Action Service representatives 2019-09-29 “The Armenian Humanitarian Group in Syria met with representatives of the UN Mine Action Service in Syria. Armenian specialists presented their work: Armenian deminers cleared 112,000 square meters of land, of which 90,000 square meters within 2 cleared minefield; certificates and maps were officially handed over to the Aleppo Provincial Authorities; these deminers are currently at work in a 3rd minefield. In addition, the Armenian doctors provide medical services in 5 hospitals. Armenian specialists are planning to organizing Explosive Hazard Risk Awareness sessions and First Aid Trainings for the population of Aleppo.”
Armenian deminers cleared 2 minefields in Syria 2019-09-24 The deminers of the Armenian Humanitarian Group in the Syrian Arab Republic have completely cleared two minefields located in Al-Hussein area of the state of Aleppo. Today, on the 24th of September, an official event was held. During the event the Armenian specialists and the representatives of the governorate of Aleppo implemented a post-handover inspection, and afterwards the director of the ‘’Center for Humanitarian Demining and Expertise’’ Ruben Arakelyan handed over the certificates to the Deputy Governor of Aleppo Kumet Asi al-Shaikh. The certificates confirm that the areas number 1 and 2, previously hazardous, have been cleared and inspected. The stated areas are safe and can afterwards be used purposefully according to the handover certificates. The two cleared areas, that were previously minefields, comprise 90 square meters. The deminers detected more than 50 explosive remnants of war in the stated areas during the demining activities. The Syrian side is deeply grateful to the brother nation for saving lives and for the biggest support emphasizing the importance of the historical day which tightens the age-old amity of two nations one more time. At the end of the event the sides exchanged souvenirs.
