Edik HakobyanThe 52 years old resident of Marmashen community in Shirak Region remembers the accident every day. In the age of 23 Edik Hakobyan found a round thing in the landfill site and trying to open it he exploded. The victim lost his sight, and his chest got injured. He has no family and lives in a lodge. The only source of livelihood is the disability pension. Edik Hakobyan also needs operation. The Armenian Center for Humanitarian Demining and Expertise transferred these data to the Armenian Red Cross. The Society bought an apartment for Edik Hakobyan in Marmashen.
Aram MartirosyanThe resident of Hovuni Aram Martirosyan got injured as a result of an unexploded ordnance. He lost his right leg, left arm and fingers of the left hand. Anyway life prevailed over the mine. The explosion didn’t change the normal course of the young man’s life. Aram is engaged in sports and has recorded some scores in arm wrestling. Aram married several years after the incident. The newly born child is the evidence of his father’s gaiety and fight.
Eghishe TorosyanThe address 104/814 reminds of a temporary dwelling. People of different nature but at the same time of the same fate live in the Avtokayan District in Gyumri. The temporary dwelling id all that unifies them. Eghishe Torosyan lives in one of these lodgings. Several years ago Eghishe found an unexploded ordnance with his friend and decided to break it into pieces. After the second stab of the hammer there occurred an explosion. Eghishe lost his sight and amputated the right leg. This man is by origin from Shaghik residence, the northest part of the Shirak Region. This region is known for its harsh weather conditions. There is a constant need of visiting the hospital, but it’s realy hard for eghishe to go to Gyumri from Shaghik. He has moved to Gyumri and currently lives alone. However the lodge is rented, while he lives with a 21.000 AMD pension. A true friend of Eghishe is a radio receiver so he is aware of the world news. He has nothing but several clothes. Instead, the dreams are a lot. He hopes that some day he has his own housetop and brings his son and daughter.
