On February 1, 2026, the hotline of the “Center for Humanitarian Demining and Expertise” SNCO received a call from resident V. Ghzroyan, about the possible identification of explosive ordnance in Sotk settlement, Vardenis community, Gegharkunik region.
Based on the call, a professional team was formed and dispatched to the scene on February 4.
After the meeting with the head of the community and the resident, the location of the identified ordnance were presented to the specialists, after which site inspection and identification was carried out.
It turned out that the ordnance was a remnant (tail section) of an exploded missile of BM-21 missile system. No explosive material residues were identified.
According to the specialists’ conclusion, the remnant of the identified missile does not pose a threat, which the head of the community and residents were informed about.
